Spain is a seaside country almost synonymous with passion, culture, and exploration. It’s a country where innovation and new beginnings have driven some of its greatest developments. Spanish cuisine can be defined using classic Mediterranean flavors. But each community brings a unique style and history of cooking that made its way into our baked goods.

We’re taking you to Barcelona, the city where Europastry began. The city produces some of the world’s best olive oil. When combined with the humble ingredients of flour, water, yeast, and salt, the outcome is delicious sourdough bread. The simple yet technical recipe has spread across Europe, making its way to Europastry as our Cristal Bread. Our love for innovation has us always eager to explore new possibilities. We developed a unique fermentation process resulting in a sourdough bread that isn’t overly sour.  We use said technique, high hydration levels, and top-quality ingredients when making Cristal Bread. The final product is a variety of bread with a distinctly sharp crust and almost non-existent, honeycomb-like crumb.
