Olive, the new range of pastries made from olive oil

Olive is a range of pastries made 100% with olive oil, which improves the nutritional profile of foods by avoiding saturated animal fats and hydrogenated vegetable fats.

Olive is Europastry’s new range of pastries made 100% with olive oil and it’s a unique family on the market. It replaces the saturated animal and hydrogenated vegetable fats used until now in pastries by olive oil.

This innovative range of pastries was born because of an agreement between Europastry and Healthy Food Ibérica, the startup that created Verdeo, the innovative natural process that solidifies olive oil and converts it into vegetable fat suitable for making healthier pastries with all the traditional flavor.

In recent years, Europastry has accompanied Healthy Food Ibérica in the development of the Verdeo process by facilitating their access to all the company’s experience and technology. This launch is one of the first success stories of the Baking the Future accelerator located in the Cereal, Europastry’s new R&D center in Barcelona, which aims to promote the talent and development of the most cutting-edge startups in bakery innovation.

 

A HEALTHIER BAKERY

Olive oil is one of the flagship foods of the Mediterranean Diet. Replacing other types of fat, such as saturated animal fats or hydrogenated vegetable fats, with olive oil, enriches the final product with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, antioxidants and polyphenols. In addition, Olive products contain less sugar.

 

A MORE SUSTAINABLE RANGE

One of the essential benefits of the new Olive range is proximity. Most of the olive oil consumed in Europe is grown in Spain.

In addition, olive groves are an important source of CO2 capture. Spain has more than 2.6 million hectares of olive groves that act as a powerful source of CO2 capture contributing to the fight against climate change.

In addition, the new Olive Croissant is 100% vegan, another market trend that is here to stay and contributes to more sustainable food.

 

OLIVE BAKERY

The new Olive range of pastries is born with four exclusive products designed to go directly into the traditional ovens of bakeries:

– The new Olive Croissant Olive, besides being made with the best olive oil, has 84% more unsaturated fats beneficial to health than a common croissant. It surprises with its unmistakable aroma of freshly baked croissant and its lightness: crunchy to bite but melt in the mouth, with a subtle olive oil flavor.

– The Olive sugar-free Muffin with pure Chocolate chips, is made with sourdough and olive oil. A sugar-free and palm oil-free muffin that provides greater nutritional value.

– Finally, the new Dots Olive does not contain palm oil, only olive pomace oil. We have two varieties of Dots Olive: the Sucré, with 10% coverage and the Glacé, with 15% coverage. The new Olive Dots contain less saturated fat and less sugar while retaining all the traditional flavor.
